JUSTICE BENJAMIN NATHAN CARDOZO

"Law must be stable and yet, it cannot stand still." The victory ...is for those who shall know how to fuse these two tendencies together in adaptation to an end as yet imperfectly discerned"

Benjamin Nathan Cardozo (May 24, 1870 – July 9, 1938)
-"The Growth of the Law - 1923"

Benjamin Nathan Cardozo was a well known American jurists and he is remembered for his landmark decisions on negligence, commercial and constitutional law.

One of his famous sayings which I really like to share with you here is :-

"Membership in the bar is a privilege burdened with conditions"
Wagner v International Railway  : RESCUE DOCTRINE

"Danger invites rescue. The cry of distress is the summons to relief ... The emergency begets the man. The wrongdoer may not have foreseen the coming of a deliverer. He is accountable as if he had."
